Sony double LCD TV production in Europe - Latest News

Sony Corporation today announced a plan to double the annual amount produced LCD televisions (LCD TV) series BRAVIA factories in Slovakia, from two to four million pieces. Thus, Slovakia will become a major producer of Sony LCD TV in Europe. In accordance with new plan by the end of December 2008 is planned to increase the strength of Slovak enterprises with 2300 to 3500 employees.
Sony BRAVIA televisions started production in the Slovak city of Trnava (Trnava) in April 2006. After a quick exit at full capacity without the possibility of further expanding production, Sony has introduced in August 2007 of a larger “Nitra Technology Center” in the town of Nitra (Nitra), 40 kilometres east of Trnava, where the main European and concentrate production of LCD television company. Another plant for the production of LCD TV is located near the Spanish city of Barcelona.
In fiscal year 2007 the number issued in two Slovak factories BRAVIA televisions has reached two million pieces. To meet the growing demand for LCD TV in Europe, Sony intends to double output to four million by increasing the capacity of the Center for Technology Nitra. ” The latter will manufacture a full line of televisions BRAVIA, including the last series BRAVIA E4000, which was originally positioned to the European market.
In order to increase the efficiency of the increasing volume of LCD TV production among the main consumers of the corporation, Sony announced guidance on the construction of a logistics centre near the industrial buildings in the town of Nitra. Employment Center will begin in autumn 2008.
