Currently 1TB hard drives are composed of 4 plates 250 Gigas each, but thanks to the progress of Western Digital, it may not be much to be overcome. So far the manufacturer has submitted a unit of 3.5-inch 640GB spread over just 2 dishes. This benefits not only the weight of the disk, but also on their level of noise and temperature. The WD Caviar SE16 will be available for 140 US dollars (89 euros) in the form of SATA connection.
